Mary Lee Schmidt (Schell) born February 28, 1930 to Charles and Mary Schell in Cincinnati, OH. Mary Lee was the beloved wife of the late Leo J. Schmidt, devoted mother of Peggy (Paul) Middendorf, Anna Schmidt, Kenneth (Mikki) Schmidt, Mark (Jane) Schmidt, and Patrick (Lori) Schmidt, grandmother to Rebecca (John) Huggins, Joshua (Mary) Middendorf, Levi Schmidt, Seth (Susan) Schmidt, Kyle (Tena) Schmidt, Kendra Schmidt, James (Ellen) Schmidt, Harry (Erica) Schmidt, Luke Schmidt, Alli Schmidt, Gunnar Schmidt, and great grandmother to Alex Huggins, Abbey Huggins, James Huggins, Gwen Middendorf, Maddie Smith, Gus Schmidt, Colt Schmidt, Rhett Schmidt, Brady Schmidt. Caring sister of Charles Schell, and Aunt to numerous nieces and nephews, as well as a treasured friend to many. Mary Lee went to the Lord surrounded by her family on July 16, 2020 in Orient, OH. A Mass and Visitation for Mary Lee will be held from 9:00 AM - 11AM, with Mass beginning at 11AM on July 20, 2020 at the Saint Peter in Chains Cathedral, 325 West 8th Street in Cincinnati, OH. Immediately following the mass she will be laid to rest at St Joseph's New Cemetery, 4500 Foley Road, Cincinnati, OH. She was preceded in death by her parents Charles and Mary Schell, husband Leo J. Schmidt, and granddaughter Katie Middendorf. Mary Lee loved to travel by train and spent many months traveling the country with Anna visiting family and friends, she often included her grandchildren on these trips and gave them life long memories of time with Grandma and seeing the country from the back of a train. Mary Lee was an avid reader and worked many years as Librarian at Harrisburg Elementary School in Harrisburg OH, and the Lloyd Library and Museum in Cincinnati, OH. Mary Lee won many ribbons at the Ohio State Fair for canning and baking, she was extremely proud of her accomplishments and shared her award winning recipes with many family members.
