Neil C. Dattilo

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Bellarmine Chapel on the campus of Xavier University at 12:00pm (noon) on Friday, March 12 to honor Neil Cosmer Dattilo, 73, who passed away on Friday, March 5.

Neil was born on May 12, 1947, in Hamilton, OH, a son of Cosmer and Betty Dattilo.

He graduated from Hamilton Catholic High School in 1965 and upon graduation went on to earn a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration at Xavier University, graduating in 1969.  He remained an avid and loyal “Muskie” basketball fan and continued to enjoy attending many games throughout the years with his wife and daughters.

His years of working at his family’s produce business, during his younger years, instilled a true love for great food and all things cooking and grilling.  He loved to watch cooking shows and would always want to try out the latest cooking gadget.

A loving husband and father and an adored “Papa,” Neil was happiest when surrounded by his family.

He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Sandra (nee Papay) Dattilo; two children, Christina (Jon) Mauch and Lisa (Kevin) Schmidlin; and four grandchildren, Evan and Morgan Mauch and Ethan and Rowan Schmidlin.  He also leaves behind his dear sister Judy Stelzer, brother-in-law Richard Stelzer, and sister-in-law Joanne Coe; four nieces and nephews and his loyal golden retriever, Gina.

Neil was preceded in death by his parents and his father and mother-in-law, William and Helen Papay and brother-in-law Gerald Coe.

His wonderful laugh and sense of humor will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

The mass will be live streamed at https://youtu.be/b5JlXkKOQYI.
